Privacy Notice

1. Who we are

Gig Guru, Gig Pal and Markora are brands of Beat Barn Production Sdn. Bhd. (201901040567 (1349897-T)), the data user responsible for your personal data. This notice covers our website, the Gig Guru app, Gig Pal and Markora.

2. Data we collect

• Account and contact: name, phone number, email, login details, role (talent, client or both).
• Verification: identity details such as MyKad or passport number and photo, or company (SSM) details and tax identification number (TIN) for business accounts.
• Profile: skills, genres, location, rates, availability, languages, photos, demos, reviews.
• Bookings and messages: requests, quotes, service agreements, e-signatures, chat with other users, disputes.
• Payments: payment status and amounts, and for Talents, bank account details for payouts. Card details are handled by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers.
• Social security and savings: the identity details, earnings per gig and contributions PERKESO needs for us to register you under LINDUNG Kendiri and report your SOCSO contributions, and EPF details only if you choose to link them.
• Gig Pal: what you type or say to Gig Pal, so it can answer and improve matches.
• Markora: Markora watermarks files on your own device. We receive the work's title, file fingerprint and Markora ID, not your original file, unless you choose to upload it to your profile.
• Technical: device type, app version, IP address, log and security data.
• Early access and enquiries: details you send us through our contact form, email or WhatsApp.

3. Why we use it

• To create and verify accounts and keep Gig Guru safe from fraud and misuse.
• To match Talents and Clients, run bookings, prepare service agreements, and collect, hold, refund and pay out money.
• To meet legal duties, including the Gig Workers Act 2025, SOCSO (SKSPS) contributions, tax and e-invoicing, and record-keeping.
• To provide Gig Pal and Markora, and to send you service messages (for example booking and payment alerts by WhatsApp, SMS or email).
• To handle questions, complaints and disputes.
• To improve Gig Guru using aggregated or de-identified data.
• To send news and offers, only if you opt in. You can opt out at any time.

We never use race, religion, gender or age to rank matches.

4. Who we share it with

• The other side of a booking: your public profile, and after a booking is confirmed, the contact and venue details needed for the gig.
• Service providers who work for us: payment providers, cloud hosting, identity verification, messaging (including WhatsApp), e-signature and AI service providers. Some may store data outside Malaysia. We only use providers that protect data to a standard at least as strong as the PDPA requires.
• Government bodies where the law requires, such as PERKESO, LHDN (Inland Revenue Board), and, if you ask us to, KWSP (EPF).
• Professional advisers, such as our lawyers and auditors.
• Others when required by law, a court order, or to protect someone's safety.
• Companies in the Beat Barn group, such as Beat Barn Academy, only for the purposes in this notice.

We do not sell your personal data.

5. What you must and may give

Account, verification, booking and payout details are needed to use Gig Guru. Without them we cannot open your account, confirm bookings or pay you. Other profile details, marketing preferences and EPF linking are optional.

6. Your rights

• Access a copy of your personal data and correct it. Most details can be edited in your profile.
• Withdraw consent or limit how we use your data, including for marketing.
• Data portability: ask us to send your data to another data user, where technically feasible.
• Close your account and ask us to delete data we no longer need to keep by law.

Email [email protected] with the subject “PDPA request”. We will reply within 21 days. We may need to confirm your identity first, and may charge a fee for access requests where the law allows.

7. Keeping and protecting data

• We keep data only as long as needed. Booking, payment and tax records are kept for at least 7 years as Malaysian law requires. Chat and profile data are deleted or anonymised within 12 months after an account is closed, unless needed for a dispute or legal claim.
• We use encryption in transit, access controls, OTP checks for sensitive actions, and limit staff access to what their role needs.
• If a data breach is likely to cause you significant harm, we will notify you and the Personal Data Protection Commissioner as the law requires.
• Gig Guru is for adults. A Talent under 18 may only be listed through a parent or guardian's account, and we process the young person's data with that guardian's consent.

8. This website

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when the page loads. If we add analytics in future, we will update this notice first.
